The International Spy Museum

I always wanted to take RJ to the Spy Museum but I was not sure it was age appropriate and didn’t want to pay $18 (+tax) to find out.  So, imagine my excitement when a friend gifted us his “LivingSocial” deal to check it out!  A pricetag of $FREE is something I will never pass up!

As we entered, the first thing you hear over the intercom is “No food, drinks or cameras.”  That’s something akin to blasphemy for a toddler and a mom with a photo addiction!  So, RJ quickly got his last sip of juice and I snapped a picture from the front lobby.

The adventure started with each person assuming a new SPY identity.  Since RJ is 3, and after looking all around for a 3 year old spy to choose, we ended up selecting someone who was 33 years old.  Close enough.  Next was the briefing room with a great video about spying that RJ loved.

Upon entering the remainder of the museum, it was clear that if you cannot read (i.e. you are a toddler), the Spy Museum is probably not for you!  There were a few buttons to push and displays to touch, but RJ spent most of his time walking briskly from room to room only to get to the last room and say, “Are we at the end?”

However, I LOVED it! Probably would have loved it more if I didn’t have to chase a toddler and nurse an infant!  From the “What is out of place” photos to learning about “Celebrity Spies” (Josephine Baker? Really?),  I will definitely go back!

Have you been to the Spy Museum? What did you think?
